I hear the support raise my spirits and I can see the goal in front of me

The line is closer than ever before, my muscles have never been as sore

My confidence is walking a thin line, Push! Press! Progress!

Every step is rooted in the uncertain ground, unsure if I can carry this hope on.

hear the shouting of my team, then a sudden silence the line is the only point…

No more wind, no more noise, no more energy?

Every step is sticking in deeper each time… I cannot let my family down.

I breathe in and grit my teeth, flashback to my grandma how she used to grit her teeth when anger took her over…

I’ll turn it round to endurance and determination…

I’ll make her proud just like I did on sports day when I was 7…

Two people try to make a wall in front of me, I continue marching forward…

Forward to that line, legs are blood filled, lactic acid is building…

Pain and pride fill me as I continue to take steps forward…

Surrounded by players wanting to see me fail…

I cross the line with a cushion of players attached…

Pride pushed me to succeed, Pain tempted me to fail…

But my grandma lifted me every step, as all I need is to try

Keep Smiling
